Link clicks and clicks (all) are both commonly seen SEO metric on Facebook Ads, which specify the total number of times people clicked on links within your ad copy, caption, image, or other call-to-action buttons that led to advertiser-specified destinations.
On Facebook Ads, link clicks are the amount of clicks to selected destinations, on or off Facebook-owned properties. This can include link clicks to an image, a specific call-to-action button (e.g., ‘Shop Now’), or a URL link in the text description of an ad.
The metric clicks (all), which includes link clicks in addition to clicks on other parts of your ad, typically include measurements of a post likes, comments, shares, or the total number of clicks to an external Instagram or Facebook profile.
Both types of clicks can direct viewers to your assets in or outside of the platform where your ad is published.
For instance, they can lead to your website’s landing page (external), to your business’s Facebook page (internal), other social media profiles, or a blog post. This is also a common metric for SEO.
You can find the link clicks metric in the “Ad Manager” section of Facebook Ads and on your marketing dashboard. But the latter will go a step further and let you compare the number of link clicks across different times and ad creatives.
This means you’re not just looking at plain numbers, but also analyzing which ad creative led to higher clicks, and when the best time to show your ads to users to boost engagement is.
For blog posts and other types of content, you can measure link clicks by adding UTMs to the links. UTM parameters allow you to track how many people clicked on your link and their geographic and demographic attributes.
The ‘clicks’ metric you see on the Adriel marketing dashboard refers to clicks on links, not the total amount of clicks across all types.
Unlike Clicks (Total), which include clicks on other parts of your ad(s) (ie. likes, comments, or sharing), link Clicks refers to the number of clicks on a link that takes the user to a landing page.
